It’s hard to believe it’s only been seven weeks since we met in Lausanne.
로잔에서 만나뵌지 7주밖에 되지 않았다는게 믿기지 않습니다.
Since that time, I’ve been training harder for today than most of my competitions.
그동안 저는 오늘을 위해 대회 연습 때 만큼이나 열심히 준비했습니다.
And jus-t like in Lausanne, I’m still a little bit nervous.
그렇지만 로잔에서 그랬던 것처럼 여전히 조금 떨립니다.
After all, to be part of this process, it’s very humbling for some in my age.
사실 이런 과정에 참여하는 것이 제 나이에게는 겸손해지는 경험이 됩니다.
It is humbling because you are making history today.
여러분은 오늘 역사적인 결정을 하실텐데
And I get to be a small part of it.
제가 작은 부분이나마 참여하게 되기 때문입니다.
I remember feeling the same way when I competed in Vancouver.
밴쿠버 올림픽 출전 당시에도 똑같은 기분이었습니다.
10 years ago, when Pyengchang began its dream to host the winter games,
10년 전 평창 동계올림픽 유치의 꿈이 처음 시작되었을 때
I was young girl seeking for my own Olympic dreams on ice rink in Seoul.
저는 서울의 한 아이스링크에서 올림픽의 꿈을 꾸기 시작한 어린 소녀였습니다.
At the time, I was fortunate to choose a winter sport that had good training facilities and coaches in Korea.
당시 저는 다행스럽게도 한국의 좋은 연습시설과 코치들이 있는 동계종목을 선택했었습니다.
But as you know many Korea winter athletes travel half way around the world
jus-t to train for their Olympic dreams.
하지만 아시다시피 한국의 동계종목 선수들은 올림픽의 꿈을 이루기 위해
세계를 반바퀴 돌아서 연습을 하러 가야하는 경우도 많습니다.
But now my dream is to share the opportunities I had with other athletes in new region.
하지만 이제 저의 꿈은 새로운 지역의 다른 선수들과 제가 가졌던 기회들을 나누는 것이 되었고
And Pyeongchang 2018 can help to achieve that.
2018년 평창 올림픽이 이러한 저의 꿈을 실현하는데 도움이 될 것입니다.
Our government created <The drive the dream> project to fund winter sports facilities and training for athletes.
한국정부의 DRIVE THE DREAM 프로젝트는 동계스포츠 시설 및 선수 훈련을 지원하는 프로그램입니다.
Thanks to this program, Korea earned a total of 14 medals in Vancouver including mine.
이 프로그램 덕분에 한국은 제 메달을 포함해 14개의 메달을 밴쿠버에서 획득했고
And we placed 7th in overall medals won out of 82 countries.
82개국 중에서 7위의 성적을 거두었습니다.
To do even be-tter in the future, we need the new venues that Pyeoungchang 2018 will bring.
앞으로 더 좋은 성적을 내기 위해서는 2018년 평창 올림픽 개최를 위해서 지어질 새 경기장들이 필요합니다.
With new horizons will leave a legacy that is perhaps more important than venues.
하지만 새로운 지평이라는 비전이 남기게 될 유산은 경기장보다 아마도 더 중요한 것일 겁니다.
I’m talking about human legacy.
바로 인적인 유산을 얘기하는 것입니다.
I’m an example of a living legacy, of our government’s effort to improve the standards of Korea winter sports.
제가 바로 한국정부의 동계스포츠 수준 향상을 위한 노력이 낳은 살아있는 유산이기도 합니다.
And I know now, perhaps, more than I ever imagined what our victory will mean.
그리고 저는 저희의 유치전 성공이 의미하는 바가 무엇일지를 그 누구보다도 잘 알고 있습니다.
It will mean the possibility for success and achievement.
바로 성공과 성취의 가능성입니다.
That’s what young people everywhere in the world need and deserve.
이것이야말로 세계 모든 곳의 젊은이들에게 필요하고 주어져야 하는 것입니다.
And lastly, I’d like to add personal note today.
마지막으로 저는 개인적인 인사도 드리고 싶습니다.
It’s rare for an Olympian actually get to say thank you to all IOC members at one time.
올림픽 선수가 모든 IOC 위원들에게 한자리에서 고맙다는 말씀을 드릴 기회가 없는데
저는 오늘 여러분께 말씀드리고 싶습니다.
So please allow me to say thank you dear IOC members
for providing someone like me the opportunity to achieve my dreams and to inspire others.
